D'Raey Fogg

D’Raey L. Fogg was born on September 28, 1989 to Carolyn and David Fogg, in
Shreveport, LA. By the time he was 8, he had lived in a vast majority of states
due to his mother being an airline customer service agent, looking for the best
opportunities for her two sons. D’Raey is the oldest of the two children.
Moving to South Jackson when he was 10 years old, little did he know it would
be quite an experience for him not being accustomed to staying in one place
consecutively more than a year and a half. But with D’Raey’s ability to adapt
to his surroundings, he quickly made himself at home; he was educated in
the JPS district and graduated from Murrah High School in 2007.
Uncertain about what major to study in college or what college to even attend
in that regard, D’Raey made the decision to attend Jackson State University
and study Industrial Technology. While an undergrad, D’Raey found many opportunities to explore all facets of opportunities presented. He was a radio personality on WJSU during the Fall semester of his sophomore year. Also, he chose to forgo the Spring semester of his sophomore year to participate in the Disney College program in Orlando, FL where he interned at Walt Disney World for six months. Upon graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Science, he was once again faced with the imminent choice of what to do with his life after school.
D’Raey worked for various jobs including, following his mother’s footsteps in working for the airlines as a customer service representative, a bank teller, and other jobs. He did this until he realized that he wanted to do something different that would leave an everlasting mark of goodness and fulfill his dreams of being in the media production field. It was then that he had the idea of returning to school to get his Master’s, but not to continue in Industrial Technology, like his family adamantly insisted. This is when he followed his heart and enrolled in the School of Journalism and Media Studies at Jackson State University.
Volunteering and searching for new endeavors to explore has always been something that D’Raey thrives on, constantly looking to expand his horizons. He considers himself a student of life and is always looking to make the grade. Becoming a pillar in the community is something that he wants to achieve, but not for the accolades. However, his desire is to be able to leave a legacy for the young people that look to progress after him.
His family and friends recognize him to be a free spirit, with a big heart who cares for everybody and everything that stands for the greater good. D’Raey was raised in a very close knit family and was taught to never forget where he comes from, no matter how far he may go in life; and that is a mantra he continues to uphold proudly.
